Take a look. The site has some nice facts, figures and history.
After a perfectly horrible experience with Bank of America this past week, I have decided (finally) that banks are not our friends. Like any business they are looking out for THEIR best interests. Maybe I’m tainted by working with so many mortgage institutions all the years I’ve been in real estate but the fact of the matter is that I have lost trust in the banking industry.
If you are looking for a mortgage, let me suggest 2 very important guidelines for you to consider:
First is that you take a serious look at 15 year mortgages. Yes. I know. Your monthly payments will be higher which means you can’t afford as much house as you might like. But are you aware that you will end up paying TWICE as much for that house if you finance it for 30 years! And don’t even think about an adjustable rate mortgage.
Second is to go to the Mortgage Professor’s website. Yes it might be a good candidate for the ugliest website on the web but this guy really does tell it like it is. You will save yourself a BUNDLE of money if you will spend about an hour reading some of the information on his site and taking his advice to heart.
With those two things in mind, you are ready to find a lender that is right for you. Happy hunting.
